Lyla Payne, M.Ed, LPC-S

Taking the first step toward mental health support can feel overwhelming, and I’m glad you’re here. My name is Lyla Payne, LPC-S, and I have over 22 years of experience working in CFISD with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults.Life’s challenges can bring anxiety, stress, depression, and feelings of isolation. I provide a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to express themselves and be heard. I work collaboratively with clients to help them understand their emotions, build coping skills, and develop confidence to navigate life’s challenges.I specialize in working with children and adolescents, with areas of focus that include anxiety and stress, depression, self-esteem, grief, divorce or separation, social skills development, school-related concerns, behavioral challenges, identity development, and family or peer conflict. My approach is individualized, using evidence-based strategies tailored to each client’s needs while allowing them to process at their own pace.I enjoy incorporating play therapy and sand tray therapy, particularly when working with younger clients. I believe every individual is capable of growth and change, and sometimes healing begins with having someone walk alongside you with compassion and support.Treatment often begins with building a strong therapeutic relationship and partnering with parents or guardians by providing practical tools to support their child at home. Together, we set goals and work toward meaningful, lasting progress.I primarily offer in-person counseling, with virtual sessions available on a limited basis.
